In this project, our aim was to design for the youth with a vision of making a change. 22@ in Barcelona is well-known as a hub for harvesting innovation, in La Vida Avenue, the building acts as a hinge of publicness that forms a pedestrian node, which encapsulates interactive and flexible residential and open workspaces. Moreover, the pandemic forced us to
re-establish what a workspace is, in which we have developed the idea of “Coronmmunal” spaces where we are socially distant yet visually connected.

The site is made up of 2 distinct plots that have different functions, one acts as a research center and student dormitory, while the other provides a Vertical City encapsulating public spaces, flexible open plan workspaces, 22@ showrooms, green balconies, and affordable housing units. Furthermore, the existing train track was transformed into a “Railway Graden” cultivating the neighborhood of Poblenou, giving back to the city, increasing the greenery, and establishing a civic flow between both buildings.
